Wood lathes are the foundation of everything else in our catalog — pick the right one and pen turning becomes a pleasure; pick the wrong one and you'll fight your equipment for years. We carry Jet, Powermatic, and Turncrafter wood lathes, with a focus on the mini and midi sizes most pen turners actually need: the Jet 1015 and 1015VS (variable speed), the Jet 1221VS midi, and matching steel stands. Variable-speed control matters more for pen work than horsepower, which is why most of our lathes are VS models.
