Paua Abalone Shell Pen Blank - Paua Heart - Jr II Series
This pen blank is made with the heart (center) of the beautiful Paua Abalone. This heart shell is comprised of pastels with green accents along with flashes of pinks blues and purples. It also tends to have more of a ripple look.
Paua Abalone shell is harvested and cleaned and the most beautiful part of the shell is used in jewelry and other applications that call for a stunning iridescent material. The Paua is cut into thin strips, then ever so delicately each strip is meticulously hand-applied onto the pen tube. It is then cast in clear polyester resin to enhance and protect its' beauty. This blank comes tubed to fit the long Jr. II Series of pen kits. (Jr Aaron, Jr Anthony, Jr Gentleman, Jr Harold, Jr Morgan, Jr Statesman, Jr Retro, Jr George and Jr Milton pen kits. - Pen Kits are available separately.)
As with all polyester resins, sharp tools are a must. As with all polyester resins, sharp tools are a must. Using a pen mill is NOT recommended. The blanks make beautiful pens and are for the more advanced turner. Turning experience is suggested. The blanks are returnable if they have not been machined in any way (including facing). Blanks will not be replaced or refunded due to blowouts.
Each one of the paua shell pen blanks is artfully and meticulously made by hand by Ron in his studio.
