Description

Transtint Dyes

The TransTint line of dyes, developed by renowned woodworker Jeff Jewitt, is unlike any other we've seen! These versatile and vibrant dyes, can be mixed with water for an economical, nonflammable stain or with alcohol for a fast-drying, non-grain raising stain. They can also be added to water-based finishes and solvents to tone or shade for touch-ups or to create a unique finish. With a 2 oz. bottle yielding about 2 quarts of dye-stain, these dyes can be used in various finishes such as shellac, catalyzed lacquer, varnish, water-based lacquer, and polyurethane.

Achieve the perfect color blend by mixing 2 oz. of dye with 1/2 gallon of solvent, adjusting the ratio as needed. Experiment with different application methods, such as brush, rag, spray, or sponge. For water-based dyes, it's recommended to use an abrasive pad, like maroon Mirlon, to ensure a smooth finish.

Dyes are not suitable for Food Preparation items (cutting boards), children’s items or outdoor use.
