Description

Ash Pen Blanks-Stabilized

Ash possesses excellent shock resistance and, alongside hickory, stands as one of the most widely utilized hardwoods for tool handles and baseball bats. When stained or dyed, ash bears a striking resemblance to oak, albeit with narrower rays.

Sadly, the emerald ash borer, an invasive species likely unintentionally brought from Asia, has rapidly spread across North America, decimating countless native populations of ash trees. This devastating invasion has resulted in the loss of millions of ash trees in recent years.

The pen blanks measure 3/4" x 5".

  • Common Name: Ash, White Ash, American White Ash
  • Scientific Name: Fraxinus americana
  • Native Area:  United States Midwest
  • Hardwood, with a medium to coarse texture, similar to oak. Easy to turn.
  • The grain is almost always straight, these blanks are moderately curly or figured
  • Color: Light to medium brown color.
  • Makes an excellent wood for turning projects of all types
  • Pen Blank measures approx.: .85 x .85 x 5"
  • Stabilized
  • Priced: Per Each
