When your project needs a clear, flexible adhesive rather than the hard, rigid bond of traditional CA glue, Bob Smith Industries FOAM-CURE™ is an excellent choice. Originally designed for foam applications, this versatile craft adhesive works with EPP, EPO, and other foams while also bonding many common materials used in woodworking, model making, crafts, and specialty projects.

FOAM-CURE™ dries crystal clear and remains more flexible than cyanoacrylate (CA), making it especially useful when you want a bond that can tolerate some movement or vibration.

Unlike instant CA adhesives, FOAM-CURE™ is designed to cure gradually. This gives you more time to position and align parts before the adhesive sets.

Need a Faster Initial Bond?

FOAM-CURE™ does not bond instantly like CA glue, and there is no accelerator required or recommended to speed the cure. However, BSI recommends a simple technique when you need more immediate tack.

Apply FOAM-CURE™ to one of the surfaces, press the two pieces together, and then pull them apart. Allow the adhesive to air dry for approximately 10 minutes, then press the pieces back together.

The adhesive will behave more like a contact cement, providing enough initial tack to continue with your assembly while the bond continues curing.

Important – FOAM-CURE™ Needs Air to Cure

FOAM-CURE™ cures as its solvent evaporates, so air exposure is important.

For this reason, it is not the best choice for bonding large areas between two completely non-porous surfaces. If the adhesive becomes trapped between materials such as glass and metal with little or no exposure to air, portions of the adhesive may not fully cure.

It performs best when the joint provides enough exposure for the solvent to evaporate properly.

Can FOAM-CURE™ Be Thinned?

Yes. According to BSI, a small amount of denatured alcohol can be mixed with FOAM-CURE™ when a thinner consistency is desired.

Add only a small amount at a time until the desired consistency is reached.

Important Note

Although FOAM-CURE™ remains more flexible than CA glue, it does not cure flexible enough to function as a hinge for applications such as model aircraft control surfaces.

Tips for Success

• Make sure surfaces are clean, dry, and free of dust or oil before bonding.
• Apply only as much adhesive as needed for complete coverage.
• Allow sufficient air exposure during curing.
• Use the 10-minute contact method when faster initial tack is needed.
• Give the adhesive the full 10–12 hours before putting a heavily stressed joint into service.
