Buddha Rotacrylic Pen Blanks - The Awakened One

Buddhism is a major world religion and philosophy. It was founded in northeastern India between the 6th and 4th centuries B.C. and is based on the teachings of the sage Siddhartha Gautama (Buddha). Buddhism takes as its goal the escape from suffering and from the cycle of rebirth: the attainment of Nirvana. It emphasizes meditation (yoga, mindfulness) and the observance of certain moral precepts.

Some ideas in Buddhism were adopted from Hinduism (notably the doctrine of Karma), but all of Hinduism's Gods and many of its other doctrines were set aside. In its native India, Buddhism struggled and went nearly extinct there by the 13th century. However, it readily spread southward and flourished in the areas of Sri Lanka and Southeast Asia. It then moved through Central Asia including the nation-states of China, Korea, and Japan. In the 19th century, Buddhism spread into Europe and the United States, and it began to find itself increasingly adopted as a Western religion.

Buddhism's main teachings are summarized in the Four Noble Truths, of which the fourth is the Eightfold Path. Buddhism's two major branches, Mahayana and Theravada, have developed distinctive practices and unique collections of canonical texts. Today it is estimated that the various schools of Buddhism boast more than 375 million followers worldwide.

This amazing piece of workmanship involved many hours of design cutting on a CNC, including thousands of lines of code. Once cut, the upper blank was re-cast, in resin. The matching blank for the other barrel has no image.

The blank will fit a mid-size pen (Jr Gent II/Jr Statesman/Triton etc)  Because of the double casting and the intricate design, there is a chance of encountering a small bubble. If you do, it can easily be filled with some of the sanding dust and CA and/or colored epoxy.

Painted tubes are recommended.
