Curly Maple Pen Blanks
Description
Curly Maple Pen Blanks
Curly maple is more of a figure than a species. Occurring in all species of Acer (maple), ripples in the grain create a three-dimensional effect that appears as if the grain has “curled” along the length of the board, giving a mesmerizing chatoyancy to the wood. This effect really pops once the wood is finished or dyed. Curly Maple is also referred to as fiddle-back maple for its historical use for the backs and sides of violins.
Pen blanks measure 3/4" x 3/4 x 5".
