HempWood Project Blank
Description
HempWood Project Blank
HempWood is an engineered wood product. Hemp fibers are broken down into individual strands and glued together using a combination of soy-protein and cross-linking binders, heat, and pressure. The timber is cut to achieve the appearance, width and thickness desired.
Note from Ed: - HempWood is NOT for the beginner! Sharp tools and a steady hand will result in an outstanding pen, but I have “blown up” several in the learning process. One suggestion that has worked for me is to drill with a brad-point bit at fairly high RPM (I use 2000). Also, be sure the blank is mounted firmly—any vibration makes the process much more difficult.
An online tutorial from another source shows turning the blank using a pneumatic disk sander (When all else fails, cheat!!) :) :)
Project Blank is approx. 2.75" strong (a little shy of 3") x 12" long, and are priced per each. Non-Stabilized. Makes great peppermills!
- Common Name: HempWood
- Scientific Name: Engineered Wood
- Made in the USA
- Has an amazing, mesmerizing figure.
- Sharp tools are a must, Brad Point bits and high RPMs suggested
- Shape: Rectangular
- Color: Varigated Browns & Tans
- Makes an interesting wood for turning projects of all types
- Project Blank is approx. 2.75" strong (a little shy of 3") x 12" long
- Non-Stabilized
- Priced: Per Each
