The Honu Turtle Inlay Kit celebrates the green sea turtle of the Hawaiian Islands. Honu is Hawaiian for turtle, and the art is based on a petroglyph a turtle or honu found in the Pu’u Loa lava fields on the Big Island Hawaii. The native sea turtles are steeped in the myth and legend of the native Hawaiians. These now endangered turtles are the Hawaiian symbol of longevity, peace, good luck, humility, long life and represent the spirit within. They are also seen as the protector of children. It's also said that sea turtles guided the first Polynesian voyagers to the islands of Hawaii.
