Macacauba Pen Blanks-6 inch

The beautiful wood in these pen blanks can go by several common names, with none having a clear predominance. Macacauba or Macawood is usually used when referring to the lumber.

Macacauba heartwood color can be highly variable, ranging from a bright red to a darker reddish or purplish brown, frequently with darker stripes.  We have turned several pieces of this wood, one picture of a pen is included.  I found the turning was very easy and sanding, finishing with CA yielded a beautiful pen with straight grain.

The pen blanks measure 3/4" x 5".  The heartwood in these blanks is mostly a creamy yellowish/tan color.
