Tru Stone Pen Blanks - Mexican Agate 

This is beautiful blank mimics the russet browns swirled with creams of a true agate. Although this tru-stone blank is more of a resin than a stone composite,  it is brittle and a difficult turn. Care must be taken to avoid blow outs. You need to keep your tools scary sharp and patience is a must. These blanks will heat up quickly, so water may be helpful in controlling the heat when working this blank. This blank may also have a tendency for chip out at the end of drilling. We recommend to drill short and cut off the end.

This is a very rich and eye catching blank! It is semi transparent, so painted tubes are highly recommened!!  Well worth the extra effort though! A good choice for the more advanced turner.

Blanks are 5" long x 3/4 square.
