Padauk (Pterocarpus soyauxii) is an exotic wood native to Central and Western Africa. It is a hardwood, with good natural luster, medium to coarse texture, and (usually) straight grain. Padauk is a heavy, strong, and stiff wood, with exceptional stability. It’s a popular hardwood among woodworkers because of its unique reddish-orange color and low cost. Padauk is excellent for woodturning projects of all types.
