Royal British Estate English Elm Pen Blanks

The English Elm (Ulmus procera) was once one of the most common of English trees, with large stands through the English countryside. The English Elm is thought to have been brought to the British Isles by the Romans, and it quickly spread through the island. This elm has been used throughout English history as wood for cabinetry and shipbuilding. In the Middle Ages, hollowed-out trunks of this tree were even used as water pipes! In more recent years, stands of the English Elm have declined due to the spread of Dutch Elm disease, and mature trees are quite rare.

The English Elm has strong interlocking grain, lovely goldish color, and is resistant to splitting.

Pen Blanks measure approx 7/8 sq x 5" Blanks are sold per each, Blank are from trimmings of natural wood, and shows the range that you can expect to receive.

All pen blanks come from the trimmings of the actual trees growing in the gardens of the Queen of England's Estate.
