Buck Eye Burl is from the Northeast USA and California. Buckeye Burl is actually the root of the tree, so it is not unusual to encounter stones or dirt pockets when converting it to pen blanks. The wood is very porous, so ExoticBlanks stabilizes it to make it much more "turner-friendly". It still requires some skill to drill and turn, so please realize we do NOT guarantee you won't "blow it up"!! We show several pieces in the picture to try to show the variety of "looks" you may encounter.
Stabilizing is a process that impregnates the wood or burl with resins and renders it into an ideal / plastic like turning blank. The finished turned pen blanks have a vibrant grain and a surface with a brilliant and durable shine.
