Teak Pen Blanks

Sometimes referred to as Burmese teak, pen blanks made from this wood have a golden to medium brown color. The grain is straight to wavy, and the wood has a high natural oil content. While teak is beautiful to turn, it can have a blunting effect on tools. It glues and finishes nicely, though wiping with a solvent prior to gluing or finishing will aid adhesion.

Teak has been used extensively in India and within its natural range for centuries, and has grown into a worldwide favorite due to its superb stability, good strength properties, easy workability, and most importantly, its outstanding resistance to decay and rot. No wonder that teak ranks among the most desired timbers in the world.

The pen blanks measure 3/4" x 5".

  • Common Name: Teak, Burmese teak, genuine teak
  • Scientific Name: Tectona grandis
  • Native Area: Native to southern Asia; but widely grown on plantations in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
  • Hardwood, with coarse, uneven texture and moderate to low natural luster. Easy to turn.
  • Grain is straight, though it can occasionally be wavy or interlocked.
  • Color: Golden or medium brown, with color darkening with age.
  • Makes an excellent wood for turning projects of all types
  • Pen Blank measures approx.: 3/4" x 3/4" x 5"
  • Non-Stabilized
  • Priced: Per Each
