U-Beaut Woodturners Waxtik Friction Wax - 7 oz
This wax is specially formulated to be food-safe and non-toxic, allowing you to polish your lathe directly for a sleek and durable shine. For extra protection, it can be applied over most finishes. Simply apply it to your work while the lathe is spinning, and the friction will melt the wax onto the surface. To achieve a satin finish, use heavy pressure while a light pressure will result in a more lustrous sheen.
Additional coats can be applied, if necessary, and for a high shine, a layer of shellac or spirit varnish can be added before applying the Waxtik. It is compatible with Shellawax, Shellawax Cream, and EEE-Ultra Shine for a fully waxed finish. This wax is safe for use on all food implements and can be applied to surfaces treated with oil finishes, though it is best used when the surface is completely dry. Please note that being a wax, it may leave a dull or white spot when wet.
FINISHING TIP: You will obtain a much better finish on your work if you sand finely. Start with around 180 grit then go though the grits to 600 girt. eg. 180, 240, 320, 400, 600. For an even more brilliant effect sand up to 1200 grit then use our EEE-Ultra Shine before using the Waxtik.Huon Pine, Oak and Elm, all respond brilliantly to being waxed with Waxtik with no other finish being applied.
